Frequently Asked Questions

How does the checker actually work?

It examines every word in your text and compares it against a hand-curated word list, in Arabic and English, together with common function words (of, in, on, the…). Any word not found in the list is flagged as a possible error. There is no morphological analysis and no grammar engine — simple computation on text — which is exactly why it runs without an AI model or an internet connection.

Why did it flag a word I am sure is correct?

Because the list is curated and finite, not a full dictionary. Proper names, brand names, and words derived from a base word that is in the list all get flagged even though they are correct. The checker is honest about this point: it tells you "this word is not in my list", not "this word is wrong".

Do diacritics affect the result?

No. Diacritics are stripped before comparison, so "كِتاب" and "كتاب" are treated as the same word. But a real error in the letters themselves — not in the diacritics — still gets flagged.

Is this a full Arabic spell checker?

No, and we do not claim it is. A full Arabic checker needs morphological analysis or an AI model — a far bigger step than this tool. What you have here is simpler and more honest: it flags words missing from a curated list so you can catch common typing mistakes quickly; it is not there to correct your entire language.

Is my text uploaded to a server?

No, not one character. The whole check runs inside your browser, from the very first character you type.
