What kind of noise does the tool remove?
It targets steady or background noise: hum, hiss, fan or air-conditioner sound, electrical whine, or constant room noise. Transient sounds — clicks, doors, anything that overlaps speech — are beyond it, and we don’t pretend otherwise.
How does it work?
It splits the audio into small frames (FFT), estimates the noise floor from the quietest frames, then attenuates whatever matches the estimated noise in each frame (spectral subtraction). Everything happens on your device from the file itself — no noise profile to record, no upload of any kind.
What does the strength level mean?
Levels 1 through 4 control how much is reduced. Higher settings remove more noise but can add musical ringing artifacts. Start at 2; use 1 for light hiss and 3 for very heavy noise.
Can I listen before saving?
Yes. The play button plays back the final result exactly as it will be exported — same algorithm, same settings — so you never save a file only to discover ringing later.
Why is the file large (WAV)?
We export uncompressed WAV because it’s the most dependable format for browser-side export. The original file’s compression isn’t preserved; what matters is the clean signal, and WAV is larger than MP3.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No, not for a moment. Decoding, noise estimation, processing and exporting all happen inside your browser alone, and your file never leaves your device.
